CLASSROOM  PLACEMENT

 

In accordance with Maryland State Department of Education guidelines, Kiddies Kollege Christian Center places children in classrooms based on their age as of September 1 of the school year in which they enroll.

Children will not be moved to another classroom or graduated early based on academic progress or parent preference.

Age Two

  • Language Arts: Language development and listening skills, including colors, shapes, animals, transportation, countries, community helpers, health, safety, manners, and science.

  • Numbers: Counting from 1–25 and number concepts from 1–10.

  • The Bible: Hymns, choruses, and memory verses.

Age Three

 

  • Language Arts: Recognition of short vowels and consonants by name, sound, and picture; formation of upper- and lowercase letters; and development of language and listening skills through topics such as colors, shapes, animals, transportation, countries, community helpers, health, safety, manners, and science.

  • Numbers: Counting from 1–30 and number concepts from 1–15.

  • The Bible: Lessons including Creation, Noah, Boy Samuel, Daniel, the Boyhood of Jesus, Zacchaeus, and the Good Samaritan, along with memory verses and hymns/choruses.

Age Four

 

  • Language Arts: Phonics and reading, including recognition of long and short vowels and consonants by name, sound, and picture; consonant blends and one- and two-vowel words; and reading sentences and stories.

  • Cursive Writing: Formation of letters, blends, and words, including writing their first name.

  • Poetry: Memorization of 28 poems and finger plays.

  • Language: Language development and listening skills through topics such as colors, shapes, animals, transportation, countries, community helpers, health, safety, manners, and science.

  • Numbers: Number recognition and counting from 1–100; number concepts from 1–20; identifying numbers before and after; identifying the largest and smallest numbers; and basic addition facts.

  • The Bible: Lessons including Creation, Noah, Boy Samuel, Daniel, the Boyhood of Jesus, Zacchaeus, and the Good Samaritan, along with memory verses and hymns/choruses.

Age Five

 

  • Language Arts: Phonics and reading, including recognition of long and short vowels and consonants by name, sound, and picture; blends, one- and two-vowel words, and special sounds; beginning phonics rules; and reading sentences and stories from 12 books.

  • Cursive Writing: Formation of letters, blends, words, sentences, and names.

  • Language: Recognition of sentences by capital letters and periods.

  • Poetry: Memorization of 13 poems.

  • Science: Plants, animals, the seashore, health and human biology, weather, and seasons, with an emphasis on God’s plan for creation.

  • Arithmetic: Number recognition, counting, and writing from 1–100; number concepts and sequences; numbers before and after; largest and smallest numbers; counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s; number words and ordinal numbers; coin and dollar values; telling time; calendar skills; addition facts through 10; one-step addition problems; and beginning subtraction.

  • Social Studies: Community helpers, children of the world, and America, including map studies, famous Americans, and important places.

  • Bible: Hymns and choruses, memory verses, and lessons from Genesis and the life of Christ.
