About Kiddies Kollege Christian Center

OUR HISTORY...

Kiddies Kollege Christian Center is an extension of Kiddies Kollege, Inc., founded in 1947 by Laura W. Shumate to provide quality childcare and support for working families throughout Maryland and Washington, D.C.

In 1996, Laura's grandson, Chad Shumate, founded Kiddies Kollege Christian Center in Laurel, Maryland. Prior to opening the Laurel location, Chad served as Managing Director of his grandmother's centers throughout Maryland and Washington, D.C.

Today, Kiddies Kollege Christian Center proudly continues a 79+ year family legacy of caring for children. We remain committed to providing exceptional preschool education, a superior curriculum, highly qualified staff, and a clean, safe, and nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive.

PHILOSOPHY

KKCC encourages and provides opportunities for students to interact with peers while developing their knowledge, talents, and understanding of the world around them. Our learning experiences are thoughtfully designed to meet each child's age, skill level, abilities, and developmental needs.

We provide a balanced combination of child-initiated and teacher-led activities in a supportive classroom environment. We recognize and celebrate each child's unique interests, abilities, personality, and learning style.

At KKCC, we value and respect the diverse cultural, family, racial, and ethnic backgrounds of every child and family in our community.

The mission of Kiddies Kollege Christian Center is to provide a warm, stimulating, safe, affordable, and high-quality preschool program that nurtures the social, emotional, spiritual, and academic development of children in the greater Laurel community.
